Kaagapay reached out Municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao Province through its Pre-Employment Orientation Seminars (PEOS)!

Through Kaagapay’s Capacity Building and Organizational Strengthening Program (CBOs), series of  Pre Employment Orientation Seminars (PEOS) was conducted in five (5) Barangays and one (1) secondary school of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. This orientation aims at raising the awareness of the communities and high school students about the situation of the Philippine labor and employment and the reality of migration and other related issues and concerns, the rights of OFWs and on the right process and means of safe migration by discussing illegal recruitment.

PEOS in the barangays are in partnership with the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs). During the orientation seminar, barangay officials of the said barangays show high interest and commitment in preventing and fighting incidences of illegal recruitment in their area. Some of the barangay officials, in fact, shared their experiences in handling or facilitating OFW cases. They also extend their appreciation for this activity because they obtained new ideas and become aware of it which they think can contribute to the development of their respective barangays. Participants were very thankful, in fact, one said that the orientation was very important for them especially that they know somebody from their barangay who fall as a victim of illegal recruitment.

The said orientation seminar was given to 195 community members of barangays Makir, Bagoenged, Dulangan, Margues and Badak and to 78 students of Baihanina Sinsuat National High School.
